The Passion

This was a great re-telling of the Passion. Did you notice that even the Daily Telegraph gave away a free copy of Mark's gospel at the beginning of Holy Week. This Easter, the BBC broadcasted a dramatisation of the passion narrative into millions of homes across the UK. The story of Jesus was shown in peak time, half hour programmes - through Holy Week. The programmes presented the Biblical narratives of events such as the Resurrection and appearences on Easter Day.

The BBC have not put this together as an evangelism tool - they've done it because they think it will be good television. Churches Media Council have come up with a really helpful suggested response for Christians, and we're pretty excited about the opportunities for evangelism that this offers!

Andy, Mike and Roy have this to say -

' We've been praying hard that quality Christian programmes would be given airtime on the mainstream media this year in order for the Church to engage in public discussion about Jesus.

Having seen some of the passion series which is to be broadcast at prime time on BBC this Easter,  we believe this challenging and fresh account of Jesus' last week on earth presents The Church in the UK with a golden opportunity and would want to encourage every Hope08 partner to consider how they might sensitively use this opportunity to the full. "

"NoMad" came to the schools in Poole and Bournemouth for the week of 11th -16th February 2008. The team is from British Youth for Christ and they went into schools and different youth clubs. See the Diary for the week on the "Prayer Page" Hope08 in Poole Prayer Evening.

We had a great time on Tuesday 29th January 2008 - about 15 Poole churches were represented by 45 people coming together at the Church of the Good Shepherd to prayer together, and ask God to do something wonderful in Poole. Thank you to all who came - and we hope that more will come to the next one. Watch this space for the next date.

Sunday 13th April Roy Crowne (National Director of British Youth for Christ & one of main movers of Hope08) came to speak at "the Farside" It was a great time - and thanks to Poy about 50 youngsters stood up and committed themselves to be involved  in more action.  He challenged the young people to be revoluntary for Jesus - and to make a difference in the place where they are.

Monday 14th8am - about 26 Church leader, and youth leaders came to the Church of the Good Shepherd, Rossmore for a breakfast meeting - they heard Roy speak about Hope08 nationally and further developments. Thanks so much to the leaders and especially to Roy for attending.
